Kwister NZA: add your pet friendly business
Return to animals.kwister.com

Return to the Main Menu.

Adding your cafe, restaurant, hotel or other business to our pet-friendly directory.

No information has been provided. Fill in the above form, and press the Update button.

Using our code on your website:

By using our code system, you only need to get a new code and simply upload the new file to your website. We will automatically check this file (not too often - but regularly) and see your new code. Our database will then automatically update with the month you last updated the file.

We will remind you if the code you are using is getting old.

After you have added the code the first time, please contact us at animals@kwister.com to start you off on this system.

Multiple Locations:

If your cafe, restaurant, hotel or motel etc has multiple locations, but one website, you can create subdirectories to show your pet-friendly status.

Example:

http://mycafe.com/auckland/kwister.txt
http://mycafe.com/christchurch-hereford-st/kwister.txt
http://mycafe.com/christchurch-durham-st/kwister.txt

If you have multiple locations, but only one text-file, we will assume all of your locations are pet friendly.. http://mycafe.com/kwister.txt

Why add the code to your website:

Currently the database is manually updated, which means a delay to update the website.

In four months time, people will look at the information for your business and see it was updated 4 months ago.

Is the website/business still active ? are they still pet-friendly ? The people looking at the database will not know unless they ask at your website - wasting their time, and yours.

If there are 2,000 pet-friendly restaurants contacting us every month, this will take a long time to manually update the date of your business as to when you last contacted us.

Example Usage of using the code:

  1. Go to the top of the page, and complete the online form

  2. This will create the code and text used by the file. You can scroll down to read the text. If the information doesnt look right, just update the form and press the update button again.

  3. Place a tick in the 'download file' box, and press the update button again. You will be prompted to save a file.

  4. Save this file as kwister.txt, and then use your FTP programme, or online system to upload this to your server in the suggested places.

  5. Once the file has been uploaded to http://www.example.com/kwister.txt please send an email to animals@kwister.com to advise you have done this. I will update our process to periodically check this file.

  6. You do not need to tell the public about the file, Just me.

Next stage:

  1. Once a month, or every few weeks, the kwister.com website will check your file to see if it is still valid

  2. If the file exists:
    • I will know your website still exists
    • The code will tell me which month you last updated the file (are you still active?)
    • It will also check for the notes you advise and update the text on the pet-friendly website
    • If you have updated the file/code 3-4 or more months ago, we'll remind you to update it. Updating the file/code will tell the public you are still active, and most importantly - still animal friendly.

  3. If the file does not exists:
    • I will know your website has ceased or stopped operating.
    • I can then check to see on other resources (eg Facebook) if you are still operating. Is this a temporary error, or something long term.
